What is Bruxism?
If you get up in the morning with pain in the jaw muscles or headaches, you may suffer from bruxism - Clenching and grinding of teeth. Bruxism can lead to dental pain and / or make the teeth mobile and sometimes even pieces of teeth can be detached (fracture). Eventually, bruxism can destroy the bone and soft tissue surrounding the teeth. It can also cause problems with the temporomandibular mandibular. (ATM)
How do I suffer from bruxism?
For many people, bruxism is a subconscious habit. They do not even go on what they do until someone tells them they are doing a horrible noise during their sleep. For others, during a routine dental examination that the diagnosis is made by noting that the teeth are worn or the enamel is fractured. Other potential signs of bruxism are radiating pain in the face, head and neck. Your dentist will make the diagnosis and determine whether the source of your facial pain from a bruxism.
