Constipation And Hemorrhoids – A Very Painful Combination!
What is the relationship between constipation and hemorrhoids? Well, most people with constipation experience having hemorrhoids at one point in their constipation episode. There are generally 2 types of hemorrhoids both associated with constipation: internal and external hemorrhoids. For these two types of hemorrhoids, the most common cause is intense and extreme straining during normal bowel movements.
External hemorrhoids are actually swollen, tender and aching veins located in the lower regions of your anus or rectum. In most cases, bleeding in the rectal area will follow which you can detect in your stools. In this case, your stools will be specked with bright red blood. Internal hemorrhoids, on the other hand, are hemorrhoids that occur inside the anus that cannot be seen readily. In some cases, a tiny amount of intestinal lining pushes out from the anal opening; this is called a rectal prolapse. When this happens and become aggravated, surgery may be performed to repair the intestinal lining that seeped out and to tauten the anal sphincter muscle.
